4. Conservatives perform well in school board races
The 1776 Project PAC, which describes itself as a political action committee that “helped elect over 200 un-woke school board members the last two years,” reported in an X post Wednesday that “75% of 1776 Project PAC backed school candidates in Wisconsin won” in school board races across the state Tuesday night.
The advocacy group listed 20 of its preferred candidates who won their races. Ahead of Tuesday’s election, the 1776 Project PAC listed 26 candidates it was supporting in Wisconsin.
In the Mukwonago School District, the 1776 Project PAC’s preferred candidates Jason Bennett, Dale Porter and Craig Vertz won seats on the school board. In school board races in the Watertown Unified School District, the 1776 Project PAC’s favored candidates Tammy Fournier, Carl E. Schwarze and Craig M. Wortman emerged victorious. In the Hudson School District, 1776 Project PAC-backed Erin Gerlach won a seat on the school board.
In the Waukesha School District, the 1776 Project PAC’s preferred candidate, Thomas Harland, won a seat on the school board. Both of the 1776 Project PAC’s favored candidates in the Burlington School District, Kate Johnson and Paul Kobernick, won their races. Laurie Kontney, endorsed by the 1776 Project PAC, won a school board seat in the Muskego-Norway School District. Adam Witkiewicz, another candidate backed by the 1776 Project PAC, clinched a school board seat in the East Troy School District.
School board seats in the Kettle Moraine School District were won by Tracy Brymer and Carl Millard, both of whom were backed by the 1776 Project PAC.
In the Sussex Hamilton School District, 1776 Project PAC-endorsed Stacy Riedel and Rachel Ziemer came out on top in school board races.
1776 Project PAC-favored candidate Tina Effering won a school board seat in the Bristol 1 School District, while the group’s preferred candidate Cathy Gorst secured a school board seat in the Marshfield Unified School District.
In the Neenah Joint School District, one of the group’s two preferred candidates won a school board seat: Tara Brzezinski. The 1776 Project PAC had a 50% success rate in the Menomonee Falls School District, with one of its preferred candidates, Nina Christensen, winning a school board seat there.
1776 Project PAC-aligned candidates who came up short include: Amit Singh of the Elmbrook School District, Devin Gatton of the Elkhorn Area School District, Adam Sach of the Menomonee Falls School District, Kenneth McNeil of the Neenah Joint School District, Jeff Smith of the Stone Bank School District and Roger Oliver of the Sheboygan Area School District.
