Trump's week in review: ‘De-banking' banned; new census ordered; peace deal signed

4. Trump orders the military to go after foreign cartels
Trump authorized the Pentagon to begin using military force against Latin American drug cartels that his administration has deemed terrorist organizations, officials told media outlets this week.
The order paves the way for military operations against the cartels on foreign soil and at sea. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum rebuked the idea of U.S. military presence in Mexico, telling The New York Times that "there is not going to be an invasion" and that her government has ruled that idea out.
"It is not part of any agreement, far from it," she was quoted as saying. "When it has been brought up, we have always said no."
In February, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the designation of Tren de Agua, MS-13, Cartel de Sinaloa, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion, Cartel del Noreste, La Nueva Familia Michoacana, Cartel de Golfo and Carteles Unidos as foreign terrorist organizations and specially designated global terrorists.
The State Department stressed that "these designations provide law enforcement additional tools to stop these groups."
In an executive order signed on his first day in office in January, Trump authorized the U.S. Department of Defense to deploy the Armed Forces to the southern border of the U.S. in order to get illegal immigration under control.
