1. Trump meets with lifeguard who saved 10-year-old boy swept up in heavy surf

At a White House meeting Monday, Trump hosted lifeguard Ryder Williams, 16, and Nathaniel Ray, 10. The two gained national attention three weeks earlier, when video of Williams rescuing Ray from heavy surf in the Pacific Ocean in Santa Cruz, California, began circulating.

Trump shared the footage on Truth Social. It shows Ray holding onto Williams as the lifeguard is knocked off his feet and repeatedly submerged by the waves.

The two-minute video ends with onlookers applauding as Williams and Ray reach shore with help from fellow lifeguard Aaron Bonan. Bonan also attended Monday’s meeting, along with people Trump called “Good Samaritans.”

In a Truth Social post accompanying the video, Trump vowed, “We’re going to bring this heroic young man, and his family, into the White House with, perhaps, the boy he saved, to give him a High Civilian Honor.”

Meeting with Williams, Ray and their families three weeks later, Trump acknowledged the “ferocity of the waves.” He told reporters that Williams “saved this young gentleman,” recalling that he asked Ray, “Would you have made it without him?” Trump said the boy replied, “Not really.”
