Trump's week in review: Iran ceasefire; fraud crackdown; Vance speaks in Hungary

1. Department of Education rescinds Title IX resolutions on 'gender identity'
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights announced Monday that it will rescind provisions of agreements reached with five public school districts and one college under the Biden and Obama administrations related to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
Title IX prohibits educational institutions that receive federal funding from engaging in discrimination on the basis of sex.
The department said the Biden and Obama administrations “distorted the law contrary to its plain meaning to police discrimination on the basis of ‘gender identity,’ not sex, and imposed resolution agreements with no legal foundation.”
The statement said the department "illegally saddled school districts with Title IX violations for actions such as ‘improper use of chosen pronouns’ or ‘asking questions about a student’s preferred 'gender.'"
“Today, the Trump administration is removing the unnecessary and unlawful burdens that prior administrations imposed on schools in its relentless pursuit of a radical transgender agenda,” said Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey. “While previous administrations launched Title IX investigations based on ‘misgendering,’ the Trump administration is investigating allegations of girls and women being injured by men on their sports teams or feeling violated by men in their intimate spaces.”
Agreements rescinded by Monday’s decision include resolutions reached with the Delaware-based Cape Henlopen School District, the Pennsylvania-based Delaware Valley School District, the Washington-based Fife School District, California-based Taft College, and two California districts: La Mesa-Spring Valley School District and Sacramento City Unified.
