Vice President JD Vance delivered a speech in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday while campaigning for Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s re-election.

He warned of a “shared threat from within” in the form of a “far-left ideology” present in universities, media and government.

“Its followers don’t see Western society as flawed yet worthy of reform. Instead, they view the very foundations of our shared civilization as illegitimate,” he said.

Vance described the “sacrificial love of Jesus Christ” as foundational to Western civilization, citing “God-given natural rights” and “a belief in free will and individual conscience” as core principles.

“From those principles … everything else flows,” he said. “These are truths rooted in Scripture.”
