Trump's week in review: Iran deal framework signed, Multiple schools facing Title IX probes
5. Trump participates in G7 Summit, meets with other world leaders
Trump met with multiple world leaders this week as he participated in the G7 Summit, an annual gathering between the leaders of the U.S., Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom. This year’s summit took place in Evian, France.
As outlined on the G7 Summit’s official website, the leaders discussed the need for a strong and coordinated response to the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, committed to fighting against drug trafficking and migrant smuggling, in addition to weighing in on multiple issues related to foreign policy.
The leaders expressed solidarity with Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia and shared optimism about the prospect of an Iran deal.
Trump held bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries that are not part of the G7 but still attended the summit anyway. The president met with the Emir of Qatar, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the presidents of the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
The itinerary for Trump’s overseas trip was not limited to the G7 Summit. Trump held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, where the Treaty of Paris, which brought the American Revolution to a close, was signed in 1783.
The American Revolution has been in the headlines a lot this year, as 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which did not go unnoticed by Macron. The French president highlighted France’s support for the U.S. as it sought independence from Great Britain a quarter of a millennium ago.
