Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko Rematch Fight News: Heavyweight Contender Says Rematch Would Be 'Do Or Die' For Klitschko

Boxing veteran heavyweight contender Amir Mansour believes that the rematch against current champion Tyson Fury would be crucial for former long-time titleholder Wladimir Klitschko.

In an unexpected turn of events, Klitschko, who has held the heavyweight titles since 2009, experienced his first loss in the hands of Fury, whom he fought last November 28th in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The victory earned Fury the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA and Ring Magazine titles. However, he was forced to be stripped of the IBF title after opting to exercise the rematch clause with Klitschko, instead of facing mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov.

In a report by Ben Jacobs of BoxingScene, Mansour spoke about his thoughts on the Klitschko-Fury fight and the agreed-upon rematch. For him, Klitschko losing to Fury was a bit of an expected turn of events. Mansour first criticized Klitschko for his performance against American Bryant Jennings in April, whom he faced prior to the Fury fight.

"I watched ringside Klitschko's last fight and I said if he came in against Fury the way he did against Bryant Jennings, he was going to lose, and Fury would beat him easily," Mansour said, according to the report.

Klitschko won the bout against Jennings via unanimous decision. "Dr. Steelhammer's" own assessment about his fight against Fury was that he was unable to adjust to his opponent's use of distance, which eventually led to him being outboxed through twelve rounds of action.

Mansour, on the other hand, believes that while Fury will not be able to knockout the Ukrainian boxing sensation, he will come in "with a lot more confidence."

He adds that since Fury had already been in there with Klitschko, the former already has the mental edge coming into the fight.

For Klitschko, Mansour believes that the rematch would be a crucial, especially if he still has some aspirations to become champion.

"If he has one more great fight in him, then he can pull it off because his skills are better than Fury's," Mansour concludes in the report.
