Verizon's Motorola Droid 4 Deemed 'Most Powerful 4G LTE Smartphone'

The 4th rendition of Verizon and Motorola's Droid smartphone line is being called the thinnest and most powerful 4G LTE QWERTY smartphone.

The DROID 4 smartphone measures only half an inch thick. It also includes the expected 5-row QWERTY-keyboard with a 4-inch qHD display. Motorola's new smartphone also features a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD slot, and an 8-megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p videos.

The DROID 4 will be released with Google's Android 2.3.5 operating system. However, this smartphone will eventually be upgraded to the latest rendition of Google's OS, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

Verizon’s popular Droid Razr will now be adding the color purple to its current lineup of black and white models. The Razr's price will also be dropped to $199 in the future.

Verizon also made sure to announce its upcoming Droid Razr Maxx smartphone. This new device features a larger battery with an estimated 21 hours of battery life. The Droid Razr Maxx maintains the original Droid Razr's thin stature, which is only 8.99 mm thick.

The Droid Razr Maxx comes equipped with 32GB of total memory as well. It will go for the retail price of $299.99 with a new two-year customer agreement from Verizon.

Verizon, ZTE, and Novatel made a joint announcement regarding its Verizon Jetpack's. These two mobile devices enable global-ready 4G LTE mobile hotspots for Wi-Fi connections. The Jetpack's allow up to 10 Wi-Fi enabled devices to share Verizon’s 4G LTE network with other smartphones and tablets.

The Jetpack's will sport a high-definition OLED screen and interactive keypad to manage connection settings and to display data alerts. Verizon's line of announced devices will offer more options for smartphone and Wi-Fi enabled devices.

These technology announcements and many more will take place at this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
