WCC’s Bossey Institute Awarded for Ecumenical Efforts

The Bossey Ecumenical Institute of the World Council of Churches was awarded a diploma of excellence for its efforts to promote unity and cooperation between churches of all denominations, August 21, 2004.

During the awards ceremony, the Romanian secretary of state for cultural affairs, Laurentiu Tanase, presented the award to the director of the Ecumenical Institute of Bossey, Dr. Joan Sauca.

According to the WCC, the award was given as part of a symposium of former Bossey students from Romania. Numerous religious leaders of the Romanian Orthodox Church, including Archbishop Daniel Ciobotea, Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina, as well as directors of several theological seminaries attended the symposium.
