In a statement posted to Truth Social on Dec. 21, Trump unveiled Mark Burnett as his pick to serve as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom. He praised Burnett for his “distinguished career in television production and business,” predicting that he will bring “a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role.”

Trump highlighted several television shows created by Burnett, including the reality TV program “The Apprentice” that the former president hosted before entering politics a decade ago. While Trump did not mention this when revealing Burnett as one of his cabinet picks, the TV producer is also an outspoken Christian.

Burnett is best known for co-producing the 2013 miniseries “The Bible” along with his wife Roma Downey. Burnett’s other faith-based ventures include the 2021 film “Resurrection,” the 2020 Netflix series “Messiah” and the 2015 follow-up to “The Bible” titled “A.D. — The Bible Continues.”
