Apple Watch 2 Release Date May Be Pushed Back to September

The Apple Watch 2's release date may be pushed back to September this year to give more focus on the company's other new products.

While fans first thought that the Apple Watch will be unveiled during the company's March event and released in April, it seems that this will not happen for a few more months. The second-generation Apple smartwatch is rumored to be launched alongside the iPhone 7 in September to avoid sharing the spotlight with the iPhone 6c and the iPad Air 3, according to Mac World.

If the company were to release the Apple Watch 2 in March, it would have started production in late 2015. There have been rumors that production for the new watch has already started, but the device might not be introduced to the public until September, N4BB reports.

There are speculations that Apple Watch 2 will sport new straps, since an insider told 9to5Mac that the tech giant is preparing new colorful Sports Bands. The source also said the new smartwatch will also have Hermes bands in different colors, the report relays.

In addition, the source said a black variant of the Milanese Loop will be featured at the upcoming event. Apple is reportedly planning another band line that is made of new material, in addition to the Sports, Steel, and Edition tiers seen in the first Apple Watch.

Rumor has it that the Cupertino-based tech giant is planning to incorporate a FaceTime video camera to the Apple Watch 2 to allow users to make and receive video calls using the smartwatch. It is worth noting that the new watchOS 2 has support for FaceTime audio calls.

As of now, there are still no significant updates on the Apple Watch 2, but it is expected to be released within this year. It will probably be introduced alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. More information on the upcoming smartwatch is expected to surface in the next few months.
