'Borderlands 3' News: Game Will Be Developed next by Gearbox, Easter Eggs Already in 'Battleborn' DLC

As Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford put it, a "Borderlands three" is an obvious conclusion, but clarified that the game maker may not be calling it that. Pitchford quipped, "We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know."

This was announced by Gearbox during the PAX East gaming event at Boston, Massachusetts. It is remembered that the pre-sequel had been produced by 2K Australia. Gearborn will start work on the latest "Borderland" game as soon as it finishes production of "Battleborn" and its DLC.

Some details have already been ironed out. Scott Kester ("Battleborn") admitted he would be the art director for the upcoming game. Mikey Neumann shall be both writer for the game and the voice of Scooter, the lovable mechanic. Randy Varnell will be creative director.

Neumann had let it be known that a character may or may not be included in the upcoming video game. He said the character as to be Scooter's son, Scooper. He mentioned he has started to work on the character but that nothing is official yet as to what can be included in the final version of the newest, much-awaited "Borderlands" game. Some changes need to be done on the voice of the character and so it is possible he may not be part of the new release. Neumann though remains optimistic that the character will be joining, just not confirmed yet for the upcoming version.

The game studio let it be known at the time of announcement that Easter eggs for "Borderlands three" will abound in the "Battleborn" game, its DLC featuring those.

Pitchford shared, "There's already a lot of Borderlands Easter eggs in Battleborn. But they're all from previous Borderlands games. So what if we put Easter eggs for future stuff in the DLC?"

Varnell confirmed that was possible. And the game creator will be sticking with that.

The announcement of the making of the game did not include a release date or the platforms on which the games could be played. But the announcement was confirmation to several waiting fans that the game will indeed be a reality.
