'Call of Duty' 2016 to Be Revealed next Week, Could Be Called 'COD: Infinite Warfare'

A new set of "Call of Duty" 2016 rumors are making the rounds online this week. The new "COD" game will reportedly be called "Infinite Warfare" and will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, May 3rd.

The latter was revealed by popular YouTuber and games critic Jim Sterling. He shared an image of a document indicating a "Call of Duty Reveal" will happen next week.

"The next Call of Duty will apparently get unveiled by next Tuesday," tweeted Jim Sterling. "Getting listed in retailers at any rate."

The image that accompanied Sterling's tweet on Tuesday, April 26, seems to be a document from a retailer, specifically some in-store marketing material. The document shows that following a marketing campaign, the unnamed retailer will replace "Star Fox Zero" posters with "Call of Duty" reveal posters on Tuesday.

It's not clear where Sterling got this marketing document from. However, PC Advisor notes that Sterling is a "trusted journalist" who wouldn't post the image without first verifying its validity.

In any case, IGN boosts the "COD" 2016 reveal next week by citing how it would be the "right time" for Activision to make an announcement, based on the game's yearly cycle. The publication notes how the first gameplay trailer for "COD: Black Ops III" was revealed about the same time a year ago.

Adding further credence to a possible reveal next week are the rumors on the game's title. Hours after Sterling shared his information, BGR reports that some PS4 owners saw an empty entry for "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" while scrolling through the Trending section of the PlayStation Store. Then Charlie Intel shared a high-resolution image of a promotional poster for "Infinite Warfare." The poster indicated that the game will launch on Nov. 4, 2016. All of these bits of information popped up roughly hours from each other, which led the publication to believe that the reveal will happen soon.

If Sterling's information proves true, then fans will not have long to wait to find out more details about "Call of Duty" 2016. On Tuesday, these rumors will either be confirmed or debunked.
