'Far Cry Primal' DLC News: Ubisoft Set to Release Mammoth DLC, Forgets Season Pass?

Ubisoft's latest installment to its "Far Cry" series allows players to experience the game from a mammoth's point of view. Although this is an interesting aspect of the game, it's not a DLC. It appears the publisher has neglected to come up with a Season Pass for "Far Cry Primal," to the wonder of the gaming community.

"Legend of the Mammoth" teaser

Ubisoft released a new trailer (below) last week showcasing "Legend of the Mammoth" that was previously announced to be included in "Far Cry Primal Deluxe Edition." The footage features a sneak peek at what it's like to play as a mammoth in the game. The video also shows an encounter with the mysterious Rhino Spirit that players will face in this 45-minute gameplay addition to the main "Far Cry Primal" game.

"Legend of the Mammoth" consists of three bonus missions, but everything starts with the game's protagonist Takkar drinking from a shaman's cup. The first mission is called "Duel of Beasts" where players will battle the powerful Rhino Spirit and his herd. In "The Trapped Elder," players are set on a mission to rescue the mammoth's leader, which means breaking into the camp of human hunters and smashing things along the way. Lastly, the third mission is "Hunt the Hunter," where players will lead the herd against human hunters.

Ubisoft recently clarified with VideoGamer that "Legend of the Mammoth" is "not a pre-order bonus." However, the additional content is included in "Far Cry Primal Collector's Edition" and Special Editions from specific retailers, including Amazon, Game, and Sony's PlayStation Network for the PS4. Ubisoft has also told VideoGamer that buying from other retailers will not allow them to secure the bonus "Legend of the Mammoth" content.

No Season Pass

Talking about DLCs, some members of the gaming community, like Kotaku, have noticed that Ubisoft has not announced any Season Pass for "Far Cry Primal." They found this odd, as Ubisoft, much like other video game publishers today, typically releases its games with a Season Pass offering. For instance, Ubisoft released a Season Pass for "Assassin's Creed Syndicate" and "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege." The publisher has even included a $40 Season Pass for its upcoming "Tom Clancy's The Division." Ubisoft has not revealed why "Far Cry Primal" doesn't have a Season Pass, though.

"Far Cry Primal" is now available for PS4 and Xbox One gamers. The game will release to PC on March 1.
