'God's Not Dead 2' Premiered in Little Rock for Invitation-only Screening

Faith-based film "God's Not Dead 2" isn't hitting theaters until April 1 but a select few Arkansans got to watch the movie ahead of time. According to a report by TVH11, the movie premiered Monday evening at Riverdale 10 in Little Rock, which is the location for most of the scenes. The block screening was graced by most of the people behind the project including the lead star, Melissa Joan Hart who plays the lead role, high school teacher Grace Wesley.

As detailed in A.V. Club, the film is about Grace who got into trouble after answering a student's question about Jesus with a word from the bible. It not only caused commotion at the school she works in but in the fictional town of Hope Springs, Ark as she is brought to court to prove the existence of God.

The film also stars Ray Wise ("Twin Peaks," "Reaper") who plays as an evil ACLU lawyer. His goal in the case is to prove that God is dead and bring down Grace as well as her lawyer, Tom Endler, played by Jesse Metcalfe ("John Tucker Must Die," "Desperate Housewives"). The trailer released also teased that though they were initially afraid of the persecution, Grace and Tom did not waver down in their belief and stood up for it even though it meant going to prison for it.

Arkansas Online reported that Hart's appearance at the screening isn't going to be last as she announced via her Twitter account that the movie screening in Little Rock is the first of many stops in her schedule as part of a publicity tour.

Hart also shared some few details about the whole experience while filming the movie. She said that her first faith-based film as a Christian came out as a "calling." She also mentioned that filming at times felt like a Bible study.

Present also in the screening is director Harold Cronk and some Arkansas residents who landed roles in the movie. The screening was hosted by the Arkansas Film Commission.
