'Hearthstone' Whispers of the Old Gods DLC: New Legendary Card, Roque Card and More Revealed

More and more cards of "Hearthstone's" latest expansion, Whispers of the Old Gods, are being turned over and revealed. Over the weekend, a new legendary card, a new rogue card, and a couple more were introduced to the community.

Ragnaros, Lightlord

The new legendary card, "Ragnaros, Lightlord," was exclusively revealed by IGN. The new card is a new twist to an existing icon. The Paladin legendary will heal a friendly character for eight instead of dealing damage to a random enemy for the same amount of mana. In short, Ragnaros has turned good instead of being corrupted. IGN describes him now as a "holy warrior."

"Ragnaros is already a terribly evil Elemental Lord. So we went the other way with it and explored what he might look like if he were 'uncorrupted'," Senior Game Designer Ben Brode told the publication. "Paladins in general are the one bastion of hope in Whispers of the Old Gods, with many of their cards themed around standing against the oncoming darkness. Having Ragnaros lead the charge against his former masters seemed like it could be pretty awesome. Hence, Ragnaros, the Lightlord!"

Xaril the Poisoned Mind and more

Ragnaros wasn't the only card that was revealed during the weekend. Blizzard also introduced a few more cards, including Xaril the Poisoned Mind, Tentacles for Arms, and The Boogeymonster.

Xaril the Poisoned Mind is a four-mana 3/2 Rogue legendary. Its Battlecry and Deathrattle adds a random Toxin card in a player's hand. Tentacles for Arms is an eight-mana 6/7 card that provides players only a 2/2 weapon using up five mana after it's used up, according to iDigitalTimes. The Boogeymonster is an eight-mana 6/6 neutral legendary. It will attack and kill a minion with +2/+2 gains.

The expansion was announced early this month. The expansion holds a total of 134 new cards, initially revealing eight cards. Four cards are the old gods C'Thun, Yogg-Saron, Y'Shaarj, and N'Zoth.

"Hearthstone's" Whispers of the Old Gods DLC is currently available for pre-purchase for $49.99. Each pre-order will include a 50-pack bundle plus a new card back. The expansion is scheduled to release to Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices by late April or early May.
