NASCAR 2016 news: Go Bowling 400 recap, Dover Drive for Autism race preview and lineup, May schedule

Comprising 36 races, the 2016 NASACAR Sprint Cup series has run its first 11 races to date. The latest was the Go Bowling 400 at the Kansas Speedway, Kansas City on Saturday.

The Go Bowling 400 started with Martin Truex, Jr., on pole position and dominating with 172 laps. But a loose wheel on the heels of a green-flag pit stop took him out of the lead. The win was claimed by Kyle Busch, who entered this year's series as defending champion. It was his third win this season. Busch stayed out while the other drivers went for fresh tires, and at closing laps, held off Kevin Harvick on older tires. Harvick is currently points leader, as per NASCAR. Fans are waiting to see how the next event finds these top contenders. Front Stretch reports that the next event is the AAA 400 Drive for Autism, as per NASCAR.

On May 15, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series goes to Dover, Delaware, to continue the races with the AAA 400 Drive for Autism on the high-banked, one-mile concrete track of the Dover International Speedway. A tricky track to conquer, drivers expected to do well Sunday are those who have had a good history corner-diving as well as taking exit takeoffs at the Monster Mile. On the short intermediate track, speeds are apt to go over 120 miles per hour. When this race sees the checkered flag, it will mark the completion of one-third of the series' races.

Carl Edwards who led at Bristol this season is expected to dominate Dover, the Bristol track bearing similarity to Dover's, including the set-up requirements, SB Nation reports. Other picks for the week are Jimmie Johnson who won at Dover for spring 2015, Kevin Harvick who took the fall race win, Aric Almirola who finished in the top five for both spring and fall races.

Keeping in mind the scoring system for the Fox Sports Fantasy Auto Racing, improving position in the race is sure to rack up more bonus points for drivers than leading the most number of laps.

Also up this month on the schedule are the Sprint Showdown on the 20th; the last exhibition race, NASCAR Sprint's All-Star Race on the 21st; and the Coca-Cola 600 on the 29th, all on the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.

The 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, now in its 68th season of stock car racing in the United States (its 45th modern-era), kicked off at the Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Florida, on February 13 and 18 with two of three exhibition races respectively, Sprint Unlimited and the Can-Am Duel, the qualifier for the Daytona 500 that took place Feb. 21. Capping the season will be the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, Florida, on Nov. 20.
