New England Patriots News 2015: Tom Brady Passes Dan Marino on All-Time TD List
Once Tom Brady ends his career — something that's way too difficult to even think about right now — he'll become one of the best if not the best quarterback of all time. And he's doing more and more to wrest that distinction, including the latest feat of passing another legend, Dan Marino, to take the third spot on the career passing touchdown list.
Although his Patriots surprisingly lost to the Eagles, 35-28, Brady was able to throw the 421st touchdown pass of his storied career. The recipient was James White, for a four-yard strike. That touchdown officially put Brady in solo third place on the all-time list, which is topped by Peyton Manning with 539 and Brett Favre with 508.
And with another touchdown pass in the latter part of the game (422), he became a member of a four-member group in the league; those four players, including him, carry the distinction of being the only ones to have six or more seasons producing more than 30 touchdown passes.
Although the 38-year-old two-time MVP is obviously more senior than majority of his counterparts, there is no slowing down for him, even with a series of minor health setbacks and the "deflategate" issue early this year.
As a matter of fact, a lot of people will agree that he still can play a good seven to 10 years in the league, provided he stays healthy and competitive. And if ever he plays through his age, then he has the best chance of dethroning Manning.
So far, there is no active quarterback in the league except for the Saints' Drew Brees, who is close to the top 3. Brees currently has 416, but the former Purdue University star quarterback is also reaching father time at 36, which means that it is highly unlikely for him to chase the three all-time leaders.
