'Orphan Black' season 4 plot spoilers: A 'reset' will keep the show as exciting as ever

The end of "Orphan Black" season 3 was quite satisfying for viewers as it wrapped up seemingly quite well with only few cliff-hangers simmering. With the way that some of the mysteries for season 1 and 2 were answered, many wonder how the writers will keep the hype once it returns.

According to Movie Pilot, season 4's shock value may come from the continuous unravelling of what is beyond the answers that fans received. It is implied that there is a bigger conspiracy going on and this is what the new season hopes to explore. Sarah Barnett, BBC America president, promises to keep things fresh while comparing the new plot's complexity to Russian nesting dolls. She also mentions how the show is planning to go to another direction to avoid being complacent.

Series writer John Fawcett supported Barnett's statements by following suit in saying, "There are some cliff-hangers and we've left some things up in the air, but what this allows us to do in season 4 is it allows us to breathe and reset ourselves a little bit." He also goes on that new characters can be expected as well, sharing that "there'll be plot surprises for sure without a ton of crazy exposition, but I also think there will be some real, big character surprises."

Despite the show's obvious goal to stay interesting, it also says that the level of shock and action will not be the same. This is mainly because the show wants to take on something new in a way. One of the plots brewing would be trying to shift focus from the current Leda clones to perhaps another group. Although this would mean more threats and truths uncovered, which could build up to the ultimate revelation of the clones' origins, the character development will have to take place first once again, and this will expectedly slow down the pace a bit in season 4.

Season 4 of Orphan Black is set to air sometime next year on BBC.
