'Quantico' Season 2 Release Date and Spoilers: First Episode Title and Synopsis Revealed; What Does 'Kudove' Mean?

The ABC action-thriller series' "Quantico" Season 2 is almost back, and the airwaves are positively buzzing with excitement for the return of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra as everyone's favorite CIA agent Alex Parrish. And to further add to the hype, the synopsis for Quantico's season premiere promises newer, bigger and darker challenges for Alex!

"Kudove": What does it mean?

Quantico Season 2's premiere episode is titled "Kudove," and will pick up from Alex' transition from the FBI to the CIA, according to SpoilerTV. While that sounds like utter gibberish now, it might make sense to recall that last season, each episode was named after the last word on the script. It's unknown whether showrunner Josh Safran will use the same gimmickry for Quantico's second season, but given the information we have now, we can probably make an educated guess.

Several reports speculated that Kudove is a CIA cryptonym that stands for the Agency (KU) and its Deputy Director for Operations (DOVE - even archived declassified government files confirms this). Since this is Alex Parrish's first season as part of the Agency, it's unknown who "Kudove" is, although it could be Owen Hall, played by Blair Underwood, who's described as the CIA officer everyone wants to be trained by and emulate.

Already that reputation is put into question as the official synopsis for the season's premiere hints at a huge, dangerous conspiracy that threatens everyone across the globe. Could the Kudove or the Agency itself be involved in this?

Recap of last season

Quantico's season finale showed us Alex Parrish being fired from the Bureau, Liam being revealed as the terrorist they've been chasing, and Simon sacrificing himself to save everyone from a nuclear explosion. She's since been offered a job at the CIA, and Safran clearly delineated how different the environment is between the two clashing agencies.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Safran said the Bureau's driving tenets were truth, honesty, and trust, while the CIA teaches deception and twisting information to get secrets and acquire confidential information - two wholly different agencies being forced to work together to save the planet.

Safran further teased that while the CIA works at an international level, there's no chance of Alex Parrish travelling abroad for overseas missions, or at least not at the beginning of the season. So she might be able to stick around Quantico for a while, keeping in touch with her old Bureau buddies, and of course, Ryan Booth.

We'll find out soon enough. Catch Quantico on Sept. 25, 10 p.m. on ABC.
