Samsung Galaxy S3 to be Unveiled at Special Event

Samsung will hold a special event in order to usher in the Galaxy S3 smartphone sometime before the summer of this year.

It was previously believed by many in the electronics sector that the company would unveil the follow-up handset to the "iPhone killer at this year's Mobile World Congress," but that information proved to be false when Samsung stated that it would probably push the unveiling forward.

"Samsung is looking forward to introducing and demonstrating exciting new mobile products at Mobile World Congress 2012," said a Samsung spokesperson in a recent statement. "The successor to the Galaxy S2 smartphone will be unveiled at a separate Samsung hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product."

The company feels a special event solely dedicated to the device will better convey its message than if it was unveiled alongside other devices at MWC 2012.

This event should take place sometime before the summer of this year and will be followed immediately by the actual launch of the Galaxy S3.

Some of the hardware the device is expected to have included a quad-core Samsung build Exynos 4412 chip the sports four Cortex-A9 processing cores by fables semiconductor maker ARM Holdings, each clocked in at 1.5GHz.

It will also boast 50 percent faster graphics performance compared to the S2 model and sport a 12-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory doubling that of its predecessor.

The device is also rumored to include NFC (near-field-communications) technology, 4G LTE connectivity and a 4.6-inch Super AMOLED HD display.

Samsung is rumored to be unveiling other devices at this year's Mobile World Congress including quad-core tablets and some Windows devices. As of right now, nothing has been confirmed, but the company has been releasing tablets and smartphones at a rapid pace so it is sure to come prepared.
