'The 100' Season 4 Renewal To Get The Greenlight After Season 3's High Ratings?

"The 100" season 3 has only aired two episodes and there are now speculations that the show might be renewed for season 4.

The first two episodes of "The 100" season 3 have given the show a higher rating than the previous installment, and this has triggered speculations that the series could have a season 4. In the 18-49 demographic, the show's average rating is at 0.6, a figure that is a tenth higher than its performance in season 2, according to the Parent Herald.

It may be a tad too early to say for sure, but Carter Matt says the series is off to a great start. It is worth noting that the increase in the ratings of "The 100" season 3 may be attributed to singer Shawn Mendes' guest participation and its time slot.

However, the high ratings may be short-lived because "Scandal" is set to return to The CW on Feb. 11. The said series has been the top-rating show in the network, so its comeback may pull down the viewership of "The 100."

Based on a poll Carter Matt conducted for fans, 99.04 percent is in favor of renewing "The 100" for season 4, while only 0.96 percent is not in favor.

Earlier in January, series creator Jason Rothenberg talked about seasons 3 and 4 during the 2016 TCA winter press tour. He said he has an idea what the fourth installment will look like, and he also already knows how to end the season if ever The CW decides to wrap up the show after that, Zap 2 It.

"Good lord willing we get to Season 4, we have a good idea of what we want that story to be," said Rothenberg at the time. "And if they said this is it, wrap it up, we could make this idea I have right now for the wrap up happen at the end of Season 4. Or 5. Or 8."

"The 100" season 4 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
