The Toppling of the Weinstein Kingdom

Harvey Weinstein is no God.

At the Golden Globe Awards, actress Meryl Streep took to the stage to offer a stinging condemnation of a man she felt was abusing his power. She turned the light of attention from herself to call out injustice in an industry that has been entrusted with the duty to bring wholesome and dignified entertainment to the masses.

She was courageous as her fellow A-listers gushed in her attack on a man who she identified by actions rather than by name, stating, "There was one performance this year that stunned me. It sank its hooks in my heart. Not because it was good ... But it was effective and it did its job.

"Someone he outranked in privilege, power and the capacity to fight back . . . this instinct to humiliate, when it's modeled by someone in the public platform, by someone powerful, it filters down into everybody's life, because it kinda gives permission for other people to do the same thing. Disrespect invites disrespect ... when the powerful use their position to bully others, we all lose."

Was she referring to Harvey Weinstein who she identified as "God", at the Oscars, as she received her award for her performance in "The Iron Lady"? No, nor was her adoration for Weinstein  a lone voice of unapologetic reverence usually reserved for religious icons and Saints.

The Hollywood structure is built around adoration by the little people for the big people who hold the kind of power she described in her tasteless diatribe at the Golden Globe event. The problem is, her anger was misdirected toward a man who opposed her political views yet clearly resonated with most of the voters, who were also in her crosshairs and powerless to respond.

"The Game of Thrones" mentality in Hollywood has always pitted those powerful elitists at the top, who define greatness by their ability to accomplish what she defined in her speech, without regard for the lives of the peasants at the bottom. That air of nobility fanned by the adoring sycophants who would give anything to touch the hem of "greatness", has been perfumed by the tolerance for debauchery at every level.

Weinstein's three-decade reign of terror as an alleged sexual predator, is like the outward symptoms of an internal sickness. When examined closely, it reveals the cancerous ravages of entitlement, abuse, unbridled power and even that word the left claims to hate, but secretly embraces, bullying.

Meryl Streep's entire meltdown was a type of class distinction between those very special people in that very special room, and the rest of the country that could only hope to be in their royal presence. The stage was shared and occupied by the royal class, exploiting their bully pulpit to remind the little people that they are, and will always be ... the little people.

So, while half the kingdom feigns shock and horror at the actions of one of their kings, the other half petitions the court with timeless grievances that have been stored in dusty scrolls of humiliation and abuse, but now can see the light of day at the hands of a merciful Lord ... public opinion.

The smaller kingdoms, that have fought years to garner the accolades that a Weinstein gathered like scum in a shower of shame, now scramble to place their banner of feigned purity into a ground that has been soaked with the ruins of thousands of careers of those who have rejected this paradigm of abuse and control.

Then there are the rare kingdoms, far far away that have always had a set of values that more reflects the views and beliefs of the common citizen. Values that honor family, revere the true God, and respect the flag and all it symbolizes for the masses.

Those kingdoms are creating and producing movies and television shows that remind people of a higher calling, that women are to be cherished and honored, and that men have a duty to resist, to assist, to subjugate one's fleshly desires and selflessly serve the needs of those in their circle of influence.

There are many independent production companies that have been working tirelessly to offer options to the swill that is churned out in the sewers of Hollywood and callously sold as entertainment. These movies and television shows continue to objectify and marginalize women as nothing more than toys for over indulged men who live in their own world of fantasy and debauchery.

They both create and reinforce the culture that breeds a Weinstein then allows him to bear rotten fruit for 30 years until the ground around cries out for redemption through the heart-breaking #metoo movement.

When did Hollywood abandon the concept that the good guy wins, evil should be conquered, the weak should be defended and protected and there really is a set of absolutes that correctly define good and evil? Hollywood has been on the "iron throne" for years, challenging, defeating, destroying all neighboring production kingdoms and noble producers with the fell of a blackmail ax, or the torching of a reputation. That has been their battle cry, their mode of attack and their victorious assembly that props up the Lord Weinsteins as they commit unspeakable, horrific crimes in the regions they control.

But, the smaller kingdoms have been waiting in the wings, and like Daenerys Stormborn, they are liberating all the slaves from the kingdoms they are conquering. The independent producers, directors, actors, chivalrous cast and crew are rising up to take back the kingdoms that Hollywood has ruled for far too long.

There are production teams, like Renaissance Women Productions, The Kendrick Brothers, Pure Flix and The Burns Family Studios, where everyone is safe behind the walls of friendship, camaraderie, mutual respect and support. The Harveys of the world know they would be slain at the gates if they tried to breach the walls of a secure set that these companies provide. There is no tolerance for bullies or meglo-maniacs who only see innocent people as solutions for lustful desires as opposed to incredibly gifted individuals.

These production companies offer refuge to the captives from the decadent kingdoms of lust, defamation, intimidation and dehumanization. They welcome all to join them as they produce and create entertaining programs that all can be proud of, all can watch, and all can participate in.

The old kingdom called "Hollywood," that controlled the realm called "entertainment," is now sitting in lonely rooms of desperate, self-congratulatory hopefuls who give each other awards, on a daily basis, but have slowly become irrelevant, unbelievable, and un-adorable.

The halls reverberate with the sounds of pedestals crashing and clay feet searching for the shoes of the next victim to trod upon the freedoms and dignity of all they find. Meryl ... your kingdom has been weighed in the balance ... and is sorely in need of ... the one true God. It would also help if you understood who the real predators are in this entire scenario.
