You are Safe...in Jesus!
When you go to a place like Disneyland with your children, you know where they are. You don't leave the park and forget them, because you protect what you love.
A Purpose in the Storm
But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." — 1 Corinthians 2:9
Where Hope Grows
Through hardship, our hope will grow. That almost sounds contradictory. It seems the best hothouse for hope would be a trouble-free life, without threats or storms. Everything would be nice and tidy and clean. But that is not the case. The best place for hope to grow, believe it or not, is actually in adversity.
No Exemptions
"For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike." — Matthew 5:45
The Doctor Is In!
I don't know about you, but there are two places I don't really like to go--to the dentist's office and the doctor's office.
An Everlasting Love
I don't know why, but some people think they will get a pass on pain and suffering in their lives. They expect to somehow make it through life unscathed, never having a major tragedy . . . never having any kind of illness . . . never losing a loved one. They think life will be all sunshine and blue skies.
God's Thoughts toward Us
Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. — Psalm 40:5
Better Than Disneyland
I still remember making a vow in the backseat of the car, saying to myself that one day, when I became an adult, made my own money, and had my own wheels, I would go to Disneyland every single day. And if I couldn't do that, then at least I would go twice a week.
A Reason for Hope
Sometimes God is glorified through the removal of an affliction. When we have a problem, people pray with us about it, and it is resolved, we praise God for that. If a physician performs surgery, and that loved one is cancer-free, we thank God. We thank the doctor, too, but we realize God is the one who is ultimately in control.
Promises, Not Explanations
If God were to actually tell you why certain things happened as they did, would that erase your pain or heal your broken heart? Let's imagine for a moment that God said, "Okay, okay. I am tired of your asking. Now I am going to tell you. Are you ready? Write it down. I did it for this reason. . . ." And then He gives you the reason.
