Deciding the Bible is irrelevant and has no place in society explains a lot of today's cultural confusion. But attacks on God's Word is nothing new. The attacks by GQ, Darwinism, higher criticism, the sciences and social sciences have their roots as far back as the Garden of Eden when the serpent asked, "Did God really say?"
We live in a day when voices within and without the Church question and oppose the authority of the Bible. As Solomon truly spoke in Ecclesiastes 1:9, "There is nothing new under the sun." God's Word has been under attack ever since the Fall when Satan said, "Did God really say?" And if God didn't really say, why would we read the Bible, much less believe it? Why would we proclaim it, much less obey it?
Two prominent women. They were both 88 years old, well known and highly respected in their spheres, yet they held two completely different worldviews. When they died 24 hours apart, I couldn't help but consider how these two women, so much alike in their tenacity, passion, and commitment, had given their lives over to polar opposite causes.
