Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts declared her candidacy at a rally in Lawrence, Massachusetts in February, at a rally held in sub-freezing temperatures.

“The man in the White House is not the cause of what is broken, he is just the latest and most extreme symptom of what's gone wrong in America,” stated Sen. Warren.

“A product of a rigged system that props up the rich and powerful and kicks dirt on everyone else. So once he's gone, we can't pretend that none of this ever happened.”

Warren had previously announced an exploratory committee on New Year’s Eve, explaining in an interview on MSNBC that she wanted “to be in this fight.”

“I never thought I would get into politics, not in a million years, but I got in this because I believe this is the fight we must fight. I can't tell others to fight it. I have to be there right beside them,” said Warren.
