4. Cruz blasts Biden DOJ’s immigration enforcement, highlights victims of illegal alien crime

Sen. Ted Cruz used his questioning of Blanche “to compare where the Department was under Joe Biden to where it is now” under Blanche’s leadership. He accused the Biden DOJ of “not doing its job, which is enforcing the law and putting criminals in jail.”

“During the Biden administration, there were roughly 12 million encounters at the southern border,” he explained. “Approximately two million illegal aliens were known to have entered but were not apprehended.”

After sharing a chart with statistics on immigration enforcement, Cruz highlighted the victims of the Biden administration’s immigration policies on a poster. Cruz mentioned Jocelyn Nungaray, whom he identified as a “little girl raped and murdered by two Venezuelan gang members the Biden administration released.”

Cruz also named Laken Riley, a college student who was killed by an illegal alien, and Rachel Morin, whom he described as a mother was “brutally raped and murdered by another illegal the Biden Justice Department released,” as victims of illegal immigration.

“These were daughters, these were students, these were mothers and they would be alive if the Department of Justice had done its duty,” Cruz proclaimed. Echoing rhetoric used at a House Judiciary Committee hearing last month featuring testimony from those who lost loved ones as a result of crimes committed by illegal aliens, Cruz maintained that we “never hear from the Democrat side of the aisle” about the victims of illegal alien crime.
