6 faith-based, family-friendly movies coming to theaters this fall

3. 'Jimmy' — Nov. 6
The life and faith of Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart will come to the big screen in “Jimmy,” a biographical drama from director and producer Aaron Burns that explores the experiences behind one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors. The film stars KJ Appa, who previously starred in the faith-based film “I Still Believe.”
Developed in collaboration with Stewart’s daughter, Kelly Stewart-Harcourt, who serves as an executive producer, the film will examine Stewart’s military service, Christian faith and relationship with director Frank Capra. Shortly after winning an Academy Award in 1941, Stewart enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and went on to fly combat missions over Germany during World War II.
A Presbyterian whose faith remained an important part of his life, Stewart returned from the war and eventually starred as George Bailey in Capra’s 1946 classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Burns has said the film will explore how Stewart’s father’s prayers and his relationship with Capra helped guide him through some of his most difficult years.
“Everyone loved him as George Bailey,” Stewart-Harcourt said in announcing the project. “Now they can learn how that movie intertwined with other parts of his life in so many important ways.”
