1. Pastor Rick Warren: ‘An opportunity for the Church to outshine the darkness and serve people in pain’

“Spread hope, not fear,” says the homepage of Saddleback Church in Southern California, whose pastor, Warren, said in a statement that he will deliver a special message “to give everyone hope and encouragement to confront their fears in these anxious days.”

“Every crisis in our world is an open door to show God's love,” said Warren, bestselling author of The Purpose Driven Life. “While the current environment around the nation is one of fear, God is in control. Now, more than ever is an opportunity for the Church to outshine the darkness and serve people in pain.”

Warren said he has been in direct contact with his longtime friend, Dr. Robert Redfield, national director for the Center for Disease Control, and based on what he has learned from the official, he will “review simple measures individuals can take to protect themselves and others from getting the COVID-19 virus.”

More importantly, Warren will provide tools to guard the congregation and listeners “from feeling overwhelmed by worry and stress, and explain three immediate ways one can serve their community during this crisis.”
