4. Minimum wage

Hamilton expressed his support for raising the federal minimum wage, which has been $7.25 an hour since 2009.

The pastor noted that Kansas has the same minimum standard as the federal government, denouncing it as “outdated” in light of the increased cost of living in recent years.

“No one working a full-time job should struggle to pay their bills, and no hardworking Kansan should be stuck earning the same wage today that they did seventeen years ago,” Hamilton said.

“It’s time to raise the minimum wage so everyone who works hard can afford a decent life.”

Last month, a group of Democrat members of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced a bill calling for the federal government to gradually raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour.
