Android 4.4.1 KitKat Update Rolling Out for Nexux 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 Soon

An update listed as Android 4.4.1 KitKat was spotted in server logs this week running on the Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.

The software was discovered by 9to5Google who found all three devices in analytics running a new version of KitKat that could end up being released in the near future. The devices were checking on the site's posts from Santa Clara, California, an area where testing for it might be taking place.

These aren't the first sightings of an updated version of KitKat. Android 4.4.1 was also seen shortly after Nov. 15. Now it is being spotted at an increased rate.

Well known HTC-ROM developer LLabTooFeR took to Twitter regarding the new version stating that the HTC One Google Play model will get the software in the near future.

"HTC One GE will get 4.4.1 (KOT49E) in near future," they tweeted.

Android 4.4.1 KitKat will most likely feature bug fixes and other improvements that will help the software to perform smoother on handsets.

The Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 are all running Android 4.4 KitKat at this time. The software rolled out to the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 recently and was introduced on the Nexus 5 smartphone last month.

It was created to work on lower-end models and is expected to bring most Android users up to speed having them all running the same build on their smartphones and tablets. The previous iteration, Android 4.3, JellyBean is still being rolled out to various devices in order to prepare them for KitKat. Smartphones such as the Galaxy S4 and HTC One are currently running 4.3 and should be updating to 4.4 in the beginning of next year.
