'Angry Birds' Movie News: New Video Features Hatchlings Singing 'Deck the Halls' as Rovio Chief Steps Down

In a Christmas special released by Sony, Columbia Pictures, and Rovio Entertainment, hatchlings are seen singing to the tune of "Deck the Halls."

The video comes as sort of a trailer to show the hatchlings that will be featured in the upcoming "The Angry Birds" movie, which is set to release summer of 2016.

In the video, orange, beige, green, pink, and purple-colored hatchlings are singing the all-time favorite Christmas carol. While the little birds are really cute as they try to get the song right, it turns out that none of them know the lyrics entirely.

The upcoming movie is based on the globally acclaimed game "Angry Birds," and in a synopsis provided by The Wrap, fans will be introduced to the land of happy yet angry birds who are mostly unable to fly.

In the paradise island, Red (Jason Sudeikis), Chuck (Josh Gad), and Bomb (Danny McBride) are known to be outcasts. Red is one who is popular for his temper issues, Chuck is known for his speed abilities, and Bomb is the unpredictable bird who completes the weird team of three.

While the three friends are supposed to be outsiders in the island, the unstable team will help the community by finding out what's going on after green pigs enter their paradise. It seems the Red, Chuck, and Bomb are in for a "savers of the day" journey as the story goes on.

The movie is expected to be a big hit, considering the massive fanbase that the Rovio game has acquired over the years.

Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported that Rovio Entertainment Ltd. chief executive Pekka Rantala will be stepping down by the end of the month and Kati Levoranta, current chief legal officer, is said to take his place.

According to the outlet, the company has cut over 200 people from the workforce under Rantala's reign, but despite the news, it seems that the movie will still push through with its summer 2016 release.
