Casey Kasem's Wife Throws Raw Meat at Daughter, Cites 'King David' and 'Rabid Dogs'

Video footage taken over the weekend shows Jean Kasem, wife of retired disc jockey Casey Kasem, hurdling a pound of raw hamburger at her step-daughter while uttering a phrase about "King David" and "rabid dogs." Sunday's strange incident is the latest in an ongoing family feud over Casey Kasem's declining health.

The video shows Jean Kasem screaming in front of her Seattle-area home as paramedics arrive to take her husband, 82-year-old Kasem, to the hospital. Although the paramedics do succeed in loading Kasem into the ambulance, Jean goes on a tirade against step-daughter Kerri and whoever is holding the video camera.

Jean Kasem ultimately throws a pound of uncooked ground beef at the camera, saying "In the order of King David, go ahead and take me … In the order of King David, I throw this piece of meat to you, to the dogs, to the dogs."

Jean Kasem later clarified her actions to NBC News, saying: "In the name of King David, I threw a piece of raw meat into the street in exchange for my husband to the wild rabid dogs."

"When a person is about to pass away, there are always rabid dogs," she told reporters on Monday.

Sunday's event is the latest in a progressively dramatic custody battle between Jean and her stepchildren over Kasem as his health deteriorates. The well-known disc jockey and musician suffers from Lewy body disease, the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's disease.

In May, step-daughter Kerri Kasem won a California court order to have temporary conservatorship over her ailing father. Kerri and her siblings had argued that Jean Kasem had isolated her husband from other family members and was suffering health issues, including a bladder infection and bed sores.

The May ruling came shortly before Casey Kasem disappeared from his Santa Monica nursing home. He was recovered a few days later at Jean Kasem's home near Seattle. Kerri was then given permission by a Washington judge to take her father to the hospital, which is why the step-daughter arrived at Jean Kasem's house on Sunday with paramedics.

Jean Kasem has previously spoken out on the family drama regarding her husband, saying at a recent press conference: "Everybody loves my husband, but I can't cut him in half … Shame on these children, who have done this to their father, and who have shredded my family."

Kerri Kasem has said she is pleased with the May court order that awarded her temporary conservatorship of her father. Another hearing for permanent conservatorship will be held on June 20.

"Justice was finally served! I just won temporary conservatorship over my father's healthcare. We have been vindicated by the court. Thank you for your prayers, well wishes and support through this entire ordeal," Kerri wrote on her Facebook page after the May ruling.
