Dodgers to David Price, Tampa Bay Pitcher: Here Are Some Gifts for Your Dog Astro

Tampa Bay pitcher David Price may not have what it takes to defeat the Dodgers on the baseball field, but it appears that his dog Astro has a talent for bringing out their kindness.

The Dodgers played well and the Tampa Bay Rays played poorly Friday night, but they were happy to welcome at least one of the Rays' players-- rather, they were happy to welcome that player's dog. David Price's dog, Astro, was awarded with a multitude of treats at the game after a Twitter conversation led to some friendly banter between teams.

The banter began about a month ago when Price suggested the Dodgers trade their right fielder, Yasiel Puig, with the Rays, in exchange for "sunflower seeds, a fresh rosin bag and an energy bar." The offer was declined, but a new offer was extended- this one, an invitation for Price to bring his French bulldog to the Dodgers home game against the Rays. Price appeared to consider the offer.

"Astro is allowed in the clubhouse?? If so we might have to make that happen!!" the pitcher said in a July 5 tweet. Astro become somewhat of a famous dog when a Rays bobble head was made after him.

Price joked again on Aug. 5 that he was taking the Dodgers invitation seriously, warning them to prepare.

"Yo @dodgers y'all said Astro could accompany me at Dodger Stadium!! Have that pooper scooper ready...right field...right in Puig's area," the player wrote.

Unfortunately, Astro couldn't actually make the trip. But that didn't prevent the Dodgers from putting together a welcome package that included loads of toys for the dog.

"Dear Astro, welcome to Dodger Stadium," a note inside of the care package read.

Amidst the toys was a lost shoe, a Dodgers baseball, and a Dodgers "Hello Kitty" bobble head.
