'Dora the Explorer' News: Children's TV Show To Get A Live-Action Film from 'Storks' Director Nick Stoller

A live-action "Dora the Explorer" movie is currently in development from "Storks" director Nick Stoller.

"Dora the Explorer" is one of those children's shows that have accompanied the current generation throughout their childhood. It has survived the test of time, and it remains to be one of the most popular cartoon series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stoller has been recruited by Paramount's new division, the Paramount Players. The "Dora the Explorer" live action film will be produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller.

Although much of the details of the film is still being kept under wraps, spoilers indicate that it will introduce a new plotline that might thrill the fans of Dora who may have grown up since they first embarked on a journey with the Spanish explorer and her companions, Boots, and Map.

The "Dora the Explorer" live-action movie is expected to focus on the show's protagonist. This time, Dora will no longer be a child trying to find her way to her destinations. Instead, she will be a teenager, who has abandoned the mountains and the jungles she so loved in favor of moving to the city with her cousin and animal whisperer, Diego.

There is no official release date yet for the film, but Deadline reports that it is slotted for a 2019 release. Furthermore, the production is expected to increase merchandise related to the well-loved children's show.

"Dora the Explorer" was a big success for Viacom. It aired on Nickelodeon for 14 years and it showed 172 episodes. Though it was marketed to children, some fans were captivated with the educational aspect of "Dora the Explorer" and it undeniable catchiness. While waiting for "Dora the Explorer" live action film, fans can rehash the things they love about the series by watching its episodes. More details on the production are expected in the coming months.
