Final Fantasy 14, A Realm Reborn PS4 Release Date Revealed by Square Enix

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn will be released in 2014 for the PS4, developer Square Enix announced yesterday.

The game will be available as a beta Feb. 22, 2014, which is also the same day the PS4 will arrive in Japan, reported Polygon.

FF14 was first announced during this year's E3 conference, and Square Enix said for those who have the game on PS3, a PS4 update would be free of charge. All data and character info will transfer over as well.

The game launched on Aug. 27 as an MMORP for the PS3 and Windows PC. Despite early troubles with servers and connection, the game currently has around 1.5 million registered to the game.

Polygon reports that on Dec. 14 the game's director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, will livestream a demo of FF14 for the PS4 here at 7am ET. He will also show the new 2.1 patch for the current game.

Square Enix is also rereleasing the very popular Final Fantasy X and X-2 in HD for the PS3 in March. It will come in a single disc bundle pack that will have a standard and special limited edition. The special edition will include a 48-page art book that contains commentary and concept art, according do Polygon.

"PlayStation 3 owners can get both games in one single-disc bundle. Choose from the standard edition or a special Limited Edition version, which includes an exclusive to Europe and PAL territories 48-page art book showcasing an elegant collection of concept art from the games, along with commentary from the original FINAL FANTASY X and FINAL FANTASY X-2 development teams, and a special message from Producer Yoshinori Kitase," said the gaming company in a press release.

According to Joystiq, the PS Vita version of the game along with the PS3 Japan release was still scheduled to arrive on Dec. 26, but a further announcement said Square Enix would reveal the date at a later time.
