In Response to Controversy, School Says Bible is Suitable for Personal Reading Time in Class

Credit :

Last week, we shared the story of a second grader at Hamilton Elementary School whose teacher reportedly told her not to read her Bible during a personal reading time in class.

Liberty Institute senior counsel Michael Berry wrote a letter to the Cypress Fairbanks School District superintendent and the school's principal about the alleged incident.

"We ask you to resolve this unfortunate incident quickly and amicably by informing us that you have addressed this matter with District employees, and providing us with your assurances that this will not happen again," Berry's letter read.

School officials wasted no time in responding, saying that Bibles are indeed permitted for personal reading times. According to Berry, Principal Joni Conn will meet with the faculty to make sure they're all aware of the policy.
