iPhone 5 Release Date: 'iPhone 4S Battery Does Have a Problem,' Says Apple
After weeks of Apple customers complaining about the short battery life of the new iPhone 4S, Apple has finally admitted to the problem.
Customers have grumbled about the device overheating and batteries running out in less than 12 hours. The problem appears to be in a bug in the new iOS 5 software rather than the battery itself.
According to Apple, the bug will take “a few weeks” to fix.
Apple spoke to AllThingsD, saying: “A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices.
“We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”
The iPhone 4S has had the most successful release of any smartphone in history, however, users have been complaining by the thousands about the phone’s battery life.
According to the specs page on Apple's website, the iPhone 4S battery is supposed to be able to handle up to 200 hours of standby time, up to 8 hours of talk time on a 3G, or 14 hours on a 2G, and up to 6 hours of Internet use on a 3G or 9 hours on Wi-Fi.
A discussion thread about the iPhone 4S battery life on Apple's website, however, reveals that customers are not getting what was advertised.
