Kate Middleton Plays Table Tennis in a Dress Before London Games

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince Harry have attended the launch of a new sports project Thursday, one day ahead of the London Olympics kick-off.

As part of training the next generation of sports coaches, Thursday's Coach Core event saw over 100 students interact with young trainers who demonstrated instructions for the three young royals in south east London.

In the spirit of athleticism, Kate Middleton participated in a game of table tennis while her husband Prince William played football. Prince Harry was also active, and took part in a game of basketball.

Middleton did not let her grey and white dress and slingback wedge shoes stop her from taking up ping pong during the visit to Bacon's College in Rotherhithe.

Moreover, the Duchess not only watched martial arts but removed her shoes and performed some motions.

The "Wessex" dress from Hobbs Middleton donned has since sold out, according to the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Prince William appeared to be enjoying himself while he dribbled a soccer ball between cones and even attempted shoot into the goal.

The Duke of Cambridge also chatted with coaches. In a short speech about the Coach Core program, William joked that he was "a giraffe on ice skates" when it came to sports. He also described his wife, Catherine, as being "a sight to behold with a tennis or hockey stick in her hand," according to The Mirror.

"But what all three of us have in common is that we love sport," noted Prince William. "And not just playing it, but what it does for people young and old. It builds confidence, engenders mutual respect and responsibility, and teaches us about the value of team work."

Alternately, Prince Harry took several shots with the basketball but missed four, the Daily Mail reported.

The Coach Core program aims to inspire coaches to become role models for young athletes. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well as Prince William offered their full support of the endeavor.

"The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry wanted to develop a sports program in recognition of London hosting the Olympic Games and developed the Coach Core concept with Greenhouse charity," explained a spokesperson for the three royals.
