Trump's capture of Maduro sparks predictable split among world leaders

5. Claudia Sheinbaum: 'Respect for the rights of others is peace'
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum quoted Article 2, paragraph 4 of the U.N. Charter in a post on X, which states that U.N. member countries, in their international relations, "shall refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State."
In another post, she invoked the legacy of former Mexican President Benito Juárez, saying that respecting others’ rights is the basis of peace, whether between individuals or between nations.
Sheinbaum did not mention Maduro by name, but made clear her disapproval of U.S. military intervention. She emphasized sovereignty and legal restraint, in line with Mexico’s traditional policy of non-intervention.
