Mark Noll to Lecture at Westminster Theological Seminary
Named one of 25 most influential evangelicals in America by Time Magazine last February, Mark Noll, a historian and professor of Christian thought at Wheaton College, Illinois, will be lecturing today at Westminster Theological Seminary Pennsylvania campus in Rust Auditorium, Van Til Hall.
The sessions will open at 1:45p.m. with Professor Nolls lecture on providence and the Christian historian and following the lecture will be a discussion panel on Professor Nolls book Americas God, a history of American Protestant Christianity at 4:00p.m.
The event, sponsored by Westminster's Church History department and the Historical Society of North America, will also feature Dr. Eugene McCarraher of Villanova University; Dr. D. G. Hart of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute; and Westminster professors Samuel T. Logan, Carl R. Trueman, and Jeffrey K. Jue.
The special guest lecturer, Professor Noll, joined the faculty of Wheaten, nations leading evangelical liberal arts institution in 1979, where is earned a B.A. in English. He obtained his Ph.D. in the History of Christianity in 1975 at Vanderbilt College. Currently serving as the McManis Chair of Christian Thought, he is the co-founder and director of the Institute for the Study of American Evangelicals at Wheaton College. He has also taught in many seminaries including Harvard Divinity School, University of Chicago Divinity School, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Regent College of Vancouver, B.C. as a visiting professor.
