Mike Huckabee believes U.S. president 'pretends to be a Christian'

While some people have already suggested in the past that President Barack Obama is not a supporter of Christians, Mike Huckabee agrees as he suggests that the U.S. president "pretends to be a Christian," referring to the president's handling of the Pope's first visit to the United States.

In an interview on Newsmax TV's "The Hard Line" on Tuesday, the former Arkansas governor dished the U.S. president. Huckabee was actually asked about Ben Carson's comments regarding the president being a Muslim and should not be allowed to run the White House, he changed the question's direction and pointed to Obama's actions during Pope Francis' visit.

Huckabee said he doesn't really care much about what faith a person has but he is more interested in a person's true beliefs and what role it plays in their politics. "I'm also concerned about a guy that believes he's a Christian and pretends to be and then says he is, but then does things that makes it very difficult for people to practice their Christian faith," he said.

He also said it was disappointing to see how the president invited the pontiff to his home with people who are actually against the Catholic Church's practices, nothing that something is "very unseemly" about the act.

Earlier on Tuesday, Huckabee took to Twitter and expressed his disappointment at Obama's way of welcoming the Pope, despite the president's efforts to pick up the pontiff at Andrews Air Force Base upon his arrival.

"I welcome @Pontifex to America &offer my apologies that @POTUS will not offer him the warm, respectful welcome he deserves #PopeInUS," he wrote.

According to CNN, the president's religious beliefs have been a hot topic ever since a Donald Trump supporter said last week that Obama was a Muslim and not an American, claims that the GOP top lister did not dispute.

Ben Carson also somehow supported the claims when he sparked his own flames on Sunday during NBC's "Meet the Press," the Republican pointing out that a Muslim should not be allowed to be president.
