Miley Cyrus Marc Jacobs Photo Snub? Photographer Refused to Work With 'Wrecking Ball' Singer for Campaign

Miley Cyrus may be the new face of Marc Jacobs, but the high end designer is revealing that his longtime photographer refused to work with the controversial singer.

Cyrus, 21, has been the face of controversy lately as a singer who has seemingly prided herself on her provocative appearance more than her music. Although Cyrus has been a fan of Jacobs' clothing by sitting front row at fashion shows and wearing the designer's gown to the 2013 Met Gala, that did not seem to be enough for photographer Juergen Teller.

"I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist," Jacobs told WWD. "He just didn't want to shoot her."

Jacobs decided to stick with Cyrus for his new campaign and went with photographer David Sim to shoot the campaign with the controversial singer. The designer spoke about his decision to work with the singer despite the media scrutiny that she receives.

"We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything," Jacobs told WWD. "There's nothing I don't like about her. She is just genuine and very natural."

The singer caused a stir during her MTV Video Music Awards performance in the summer, when she stripped down to a bikini while gyrating on married R&B singer Robin Thicke, 36.

"I went from people just thinking I was, like, a baby to people thinking I'm this, like, sex freak that really just pops molly and does lines all day," Cyrus said, according to The New York Times recently. "It's like, 'Has anyone ever heard of rock 'n' roll?' There's a sex scene in pretty much every single movie, and they go, 'Well, that's a character.' Well, that's a character."

After performing at the VMA's last year, Cyrus said she has been stereotyped.

"So, I feel like now that I did the VMAs, that just kind of became a standard for me, and then anytime I do anything else, they're like, 'Miley kept it tame tonight,'" she told The Times.
