'Pokémon GO' Evolution Guide 2017: Tips on Evolving Gen 1 to Gen 2 Pokémon With Special Items

Now that the February 2017 update for the hit mobile game "Pokémon GO" is out, tips and guide reports are now available to help trainers in the effective evolution of Pokémon from Gen 1 to Gen 2 types using the newly introduced Special Items.

It can be recalled that one of the best features of the February 2017 patch is the addition of around 80 Gen 2 Pokémon from the Johto region that were also first seen in the "Pokémon Gold and Silver" game. The update also permitted the evolution of Pokémon from Gen 1 to Gen 2 types.

IGN has compiled all the possible evolutions plus the required items to do them. For example, trainers can make a Gloom evolve into a Vileplume with 100 Candy. But if a trainer adds a Sun Stone to it, the Gloom will turn to a Bellossom.

Another example, a Slowpoke can turn to a Slowking with 50 Candy and King's Rock. Without the evolution stone, the Slowpoke can only evolve to a Slowbro.

With the addition of Gen 2 Pokémon, developer Niantic Labs has also put up more items to aid in the evolution process. As mentioned above, items like Evolution Stones will be needed to successfully turn Gen 1 characters to Gen 2 Pokémon.

The Evolution Stones or items needed to carry out Gen 2 evolves are Sun Stone, King's Rock, Metal Coat, Dragon Scale, and Up-Grade.

Reports have it that Evolution Items can be found by spinning PokéStops. Evolution Items comes by chance, but on a good note, acquiring them will not cost trainers anything. Players just need to have a keen eye and a little bit of luck to collect these crucial items.

Trainers have previously figured out how to turn the newly added Eevee into its five possible eeveelution characters.

In the same IGN report, it is indicated that to turn an Eevee to Vaporeon, trainers need to rename it to Rainer. If it is renamed to Sparky, it will become Jolteeon. If the name is changed to Pyro, it will evolve to Flareon. If players change the name to Sakura, it will give trainers an Espeon, while the name Tamao changes it into Umbreon. All eeveelutions will need 25 Candy.
