Rousey, a mixed martial artist, became the first and current UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion in 2012. She will feature as the cover on one of four magazines developed by ESPN to celebrate the magazine's 15-year anniversary. The other athletes selected include Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, baseball player Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals, and Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin.

The ESPN has spent the past few weeks looking back at athletes in history. That history will spiral forward on May 3rd, the debut date of the 15th Anniversary issue. This will be Rousey's second time being featured as a cover athlete for the ESPN, offering her a huge platform for increasing the awareness of her sport. Fans of mixed martial arts also pointed this out.

"Cool! Ronda on the cover! It's so great that ESPN is giving women's MMA some love and we have Ronda to thank for it!" one fan wrote on Rousey's Facebook.

She previously appeared on the cover for ESPN's "Body Issue" which features athletes at their pique physical fitness level. Rousey helped to promote the coming issue on her Facebook page.

"Don't forget to pick up the 15th anniversary issue of ESPN coming soon," she wrote with a picture of her photo shoot for the magazine. She can be seen holding up to balloons that mark the number 15.

Rousey is a former Olympian and became the first woman to earn a gold medal in the sport of Judo during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is considered by multiple MMA publications to be the number one female fighter in the world. Her mother is also a former Judo athlete who enjoyed a well decorated career.
