Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Verizon Leak Prices Smartphone at $299

Another Verizon Wireless inventory leak has reportedly revealed that Samsung and Google’s latest smartphone the Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be priced at $299, with a two-year contract.

Engadget published an anonymous tip it received detailing the make, model and advertising period for the smartphone listed as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

The leak lists the phone’s model number as “SCHi515MSV” and its advertising period from Nov. 10, 2011 to June 10, 2012.

Engadget speculates the smartphone should be expected to release any time after Nov. 10, but probably won’t release until a few weeks after advertising is scheduled to begin.

A previous leak of Verizon’s inventory detailed that the smartphone includes mobile web, Bluetooth, voice activation, voice memo and 4G capability, among other specs.

The phone however will not be a "global phone" supporting both GSM and CDMA networks.

Verizon Wireless is known to be a CDMA capable network.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has had a number of pseudonyms since anticipation of its release began, including the Samsung Nexus Prime, the Google Nexus Prime, the Samsung Droid Prime and the Google Nexus 3.

The Nexus Prime has been the most common alternative name for the phone.

Commentators suggest that Nexus Prime is a codename developers have used for the phone in order to conceal Galaxy Nexus as its true name.

The Galaxy Nexus, or Nexus Prime is scheduled to be unveiled on Oct. 19 at Samsung and Google’s joint media event, “Samsung Mobile Unpacked: Google Episode,” in Hong Kong.

It is expected to be the first smartphone powered by the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich, which will also be unveiled at “Samsung Mobile Unpacked.”
