Sherri Shepherd Tweet Rape Threat: 'View' Host Takes 'Legal Action'
Sherri Shepherd's tweet about a rape threat is gaining attention, as "The View" host vowed to take action against Twitter bullies. Shepherd lamented about the plight of cyberbullying after the incident.
Sherri Shepherd was tweeted about rape by someone on Twitter calling themselves @DaCloneKiller, and since then, the stream of hateful messages hidden behind a Twitter screen has continued.
"Somebody should drag u in a back alley and rape you @SherriEShepherd," wrote @DaCloneKiller. From there, Shepherd promised to take legal action against the bully, even going to the police.
"Just talked to the police about @DaCloneKiller …the laws should be changed for folks that bully – no consequences & the bullying continues," the former "Dancing With The Stars" contestant wrote. "I am going 2 file a police report 4U threatening me. And so help me God, when I find out where U live, charges will follow."
However, Shepherd's insistence at pointing out the cyberbully only led to more hateful tweets from @DaCloneKiller and some of his 1,438 followers.
"@SherriEShepherd What would you do for a Klondike bar?" wrote @DaCloneKiller, continuing to harass her.
More unfortunate, perhaps, was the encouragement from @DaCloneKiller's followers, who supported his tweets, and even praised him for getting the attention of the national media. E! News, CNN, HLN, and other news outlets have all used the sick tweets as a way to prompt a national discussion of cyberbullying.
"@DaCloneKiller U famous your tweets everywhere on TV," wrote one user.
"@DaCloneKiller you made it on Perez Hilton 8M people visit that site a day!Congrats !*Salutes* Hold your ground that b---- cant do nothing," tweeted @TeamMinajArabia.
Other users decried the cyberbullying, and Shepherd was among those who pointed to the plight of children who are defenseless in similar situations.
"This type of bullying is one of the reasons children are killing themselves b/c there's no consequences for the bully(s)," she wrote.
Now, Shepherd has enlisted the help of police and private security companies to track down @DaCloneKiller.
"Local law enforcement is involved as well as corporate legal and security departments. This matter is being taken very seriously," her representative told Gossip Cop.
Twitter has no commented on the cyberbullying situation.
