Sony E5663: Is It the New Sony Xperia Z4 Compact?

Sony has remained mum about whether it will come out with a compact version of its latest flagship phone, the Xperia Z4. However, speculations have been raised about the company preparing to release their compact version of the latest phone in time for their usual announcement during fall.

The report cites not one but two benchmarking sites that reportedly featured a Sony phone with model number E5663, which may just be the next generation of its last compact phone, the Xperia Z3. Benchmarking sites GeekBench and GFXBench.

Both sites outlined the specs for the new phone, which is reported to have the 4.6-inch screen size that is usually associated with Sony's compact phones. The display quality of the new phone which is 1080p is definitely better than that of the Z3 Compact, which was only at 720p. If the reports are true, this new phone thought to be the Xperia Z4 Company will be the first small-screen phone that will have a 1080p display.

Under the hood, the new phone is said to have a MediaTek MT6795 chipset, which has an ARM-Cortex A53 octa-core processor running at 1.9GHz. It will also reportedly have 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage.

The Sony E5663 will also sport a 21 mega-pixel rear-facing camera, according to the sites. Selfie lovers will also love its 13 mega-pixel front-facing camera, a far cry from the usual 5 mega-pixel cameras that are on previous Xperia smartphones. It will also likely come with Android Lollipop pre-installed.

Because of its model number, the phone will likely be released in India, according to the report. Previous Sony Xperia phone models launched in India had model numbers ending in "63," such as the Xperia C4 Dual or model number E5363 and the Xperia M4 Aqua Dual or model number E2363.

Sony has not confirmed if this is indeed the Sony Xperia Z4 Compact, much less announce whether they are releasing this model outside of India.
