'Star Wars Battlefront' Outer Rim DLC Receives Release Date, Gameplay Trailer

EA DICE has recently announced the release date of Outer Rim, the first DLC of "Star Wars Battlefront" season pass. The developer has also shared a new video showcasing the gameplay of the upcoming content.

The "Star Wars Battlefront" Outer Rim DLC release date is set on Tuesday, according to a report from GameSpot. The add-on content will be available for season pass holders on March 22 while players who don't own a season pass will have to wait until April 5 to get their hands on the new DLC.

EA DICE also revealed a new gameplay trailer (below) for the DLC. The footage highlighted the two new heroes, Greedo and Nien Nunb, among other things. It ends with the all too familiar scene of Greedo and Han Solo drawing their guns, reminiscent of the famous Cantina sequence from the film.

Greedo is a bounty hunter in the employ of the Empire, while Nien Nunb will be among the rebels who are tasked extract resources to a transport ship in a new mode called Extraction. To succeed in the new mode, Rebel players need to make deliver the resources before time runs out, while Empire players need to make sure they don't make said extraction.

In addition to the new heroes and mode, Outer Rim also comes with four new maps, weapons, and Star Cards. The new maps feature the planets Sullust and Tatooine. New weapons include a Relby V-10 rifle and a DT-12 blaster pistol. Meanwhile, Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim are the new Star Cards coming with the fresh content.

The "Star Wars Battlefront" Season Pass costs $50, but reports have said the DLC can be bought individually at $15. Three other add-on content will follow the "Star Wars Battlefront" Outer Rim DLC. These are Bespin coming this summer, Death Star launching in fall, and an as of yet untitled expansion pack that's set to release in early 2017.
