There are many speculations that Ewan Gregory will be returning to the franchise to reprise his role of the iconic Obi Wan Kenobi. Fans of the "Star Wars" franchise are said to be hopeful about his return, especially since his voice was featured in the recently released "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" film.

A previous interview with MTV had McGregor addressing the rumors about his involvement in the upcoming films. He revealed that he was yet to be contacted about taking part in the upcoming anthology series of Lucas Films.

With that, he also shared his though about "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." He stated, "You don't need hilts. If you know how to handle a light saber you don't need a silly hilt…The Jedi Order managed very well without hilts for hundreds of millions of years!"

However, it was stated that there is a possibility that he could still return since it had been a year since he spoke to MTV about this. Avid fans are even speculating that he will be given his own stand-alone film in the future.

Aside from rumors of McGregor's return, there are also speculations that Hayden Christensen could also be taking part in the upcoming installments of the movie series. Like Obi Wan, his character is rumored to take on the form of a Force ghost.

Nevertheless, fans have to wait until Dec. 15, 2017 to find out what is in store for "Star Wars: Episode VIII."
